Labels without labels

As I am leaving school, very soon (2 weeks on thursday) I have been reflecting on the years I have spent at school and how things have changed. One thing that I think is particularly recognisable in schools, is the way different groups and stereotypes are created. There appears to be a need to follow a certain group or trend in order to fit in, otherwise you have no place in school, and so life of course.

Well no, I very much disagree with this. I myself don't think I fit in to any particular category, and don't really desire to either, thanks. I've never considered myself 'girly' or particularly 'tomboy', I like wearing (some) make up, I like shopping etc. but I am also inseparable with my jeans and still enjoy climbing trees and kickboxing for example. Things which could be considered 'tomboy'. I hate the way we have been almost brainwashed to automatically label people in a stereotype or group - Gothic/emo/chav/indie etc. What ever happened to just wearing what you liked and wanted to?

Jessie J is a perfect example of subverting this in my opinion. Her hair could be considered 'gothic' but her fun and eccentric style suggests otherwise. Jessie J always looks unique, and wears clothes/follows trends which fit her personality, and she looks awesome!

How about we all challenge ourselves to wear what we want to, experiment with different bits of different styles, and celebrate being ourselves!

Better things are coming, I swear there's truth in that.

Its been a few months full of ups and downs..BUT..

•   I have FINALLY sent off my UCAS form (here's hope for september!) 
•   i am going to see Coldplay tomorrow! :D 
•   And off to Clothes Show Live on wednesday! (expect posts detailing all soon after!) 
•  Its nearly christmas!! Er..Hello?! :) 

 All good reasons to be happy :)

Tea Party!!

This picture comes from last Saturday, at my gorgeous friend Emerald's Hen Party tea Party :)

it was a beautifully sunny day and everyone made cakes that we all shared and drank tea (from teapots) and pink lemonade, we also played crochet :) it was great to see how creative everyone had been with their outfits! picked up lots of inspiration :)

Here is my outfit:

- Navy blue dress purchased in a charity shop for £5!
- blue patterned shawl (borrowed from my beautiful mum) from White Stuff, unsure of price
- Brown thin strapped sandals (borrowed from my beautiful sister) roughly £2.50 in Primark
- flower brooch and hair accessories- £1.99 each, from H&M
- Pearl bracelets £2.50 in Diamonds and Pearls
- Pearl hair accessories £1.50 in Primark
- Pearl earrings from a set in Primark
